On tuesday 29th April, Our Tuhononga Kaimahi, Pani Manawatu Taylor, invited our 'Ko Au'Rōpu to Koukourarata, Tūtehuarewa Marae on the Banks Peninsula.

Ko Au: I am
Ko Au literally translates to “I am or “I am me”. One speaks to their “internal self” however, generational / historic trauma will create mamae leading to addiction, whether it be, Alcohol and Drugs, gambling etc.
When any type of addiction takes a hold of a person’s life, identity of self is lost in a place of despair and darkness…
Additionally, tamariki placed in foster care, adoption, whāngai will undoubtedly have a significant impact on identity.
Ko Au Sessions support and guide:
- Whanaungatanga / Pepeha
- Te Whare Tapa Whā
The Rubbish Bin - The Ripple Effect
- Te Kore, Te Po, Te Ao Marama
- Nature / Nurture
- LORE vs LAW
- Marae Experience
Some may ask “what does all of the above have to do with one’s Ko Au”? My response is…. It all has a heck of lot to do with self-identity.
