Our comprehensive reintegration support programme is designed to assist men and women as they transition from the justice and corrections systems back into the community.

By offering a comprehensive range of services, tailored support, and through a kaupapa māori lense, we aim to empower individuals to successfully reintegrate into their communities, reduce the risk of re-offending, and build brighter futures for our communities.

Out Of Gate

The Out of Gate Reintegration Service works alongside all 3 prisons in the Christchurch region. We support tāne and wāhine who are on remand or completing a custodial sentence ready to be released into the community for up to 6-months post-release.

All referrals are made by Case Management within Ara Poutama.

Support includes:

  • Referrals for suitable accommodation on release.
  • Sourcing employment, education and further training opportunities.
  • Gaining identification, bank accounts, drivers licencing, MSD Support.
  • Connecting with AOD, non-violent programs and whanau supports.

Out of Gate will assist whaiora to problem solve and resolve issues they may face after they are released and provide encouragement on their journey post-release.
