Community Social Movement

We are a nationwide group of like-minded individuals committed to reducing alcohol-related harm across the motu and our communities. We adopt a dynamic approach to addressing alcohol harm through education, advocacy, and social development. We utilise Mātauranga Māori frameworks, we empower rangatahi, hapu māmā and whānau to take charge of their hauora and determine their own paths creating a driving force for their hauora (Health) journey.

Established in 2022, Te Wai-Ora is a Te Whatu Ora | Health Promotion funded, kaupapa Māori, social movement. Te Wai-Ora is a collective of health providers and NGOs united by a shared vision: realising paeora for whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori Māori and communities through the reduction of alcohol-related harm.

Our rōpū is compised of Hāpai Te Hauora, E Tipu E Rea, Te Rūnanga O Toa Rangatira, He Waka Tapu, and Ngāti Hine Health Trust.

Te Wai-Ora is set to run until 2028 and aims to expand and grow its reach further into communities, fostering positive change and mana motuhake

He Waka Tapu

HE WAKA TAPU

He Waka Tapu is a kaupapa Māori organisation located in Ōtautahi (Christchurch), Hakatere (Ashburton) and Wharekauri (Chatham Islands). We use tikanga Māori to help people identify what they really want out of life, working closely with our community, other service providers and government agencies to meet the needs of whānau.

We continue to work collaboratively with our local and regional AOD leadership groups to address system design and access options for community, decluttering the promotion so that community know what available to them and they can easily access.
