The New Zealand Commercial Project Awards
(Ahikā: Residential Project Silver Award)
16 / 05 / 2025
He Waka Tapu along with our building partners Cook Brothers Construction are proud to highlight our recent recognition at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards, a premier event owned by the Registered Master Builders Association. This awards programme is unique in New Zealand because it celebrates and showcases the contribution and innovation of the entire project team — the people behind the project — rather than just the finished building itself.

Collaborative Acchievment.
What sets the NZ Commercial Project Awards apart is their focus on teamwork, collaboration, and the collective achievement in delivering outstanding commercial constructions. The size of a project is not what matters most; instead, the awards recognise the ingenuity, partnership, and dedication required to bring any project — large or small — to life. There is an award for every type and size of build, ensuring that every outstanding team effort is acknowledged and celebrated.
Beginning in 2024, the Awards introduced two new Supreme Awards to further highlight excellence across the spectrum: one for projects under NZ$10 million and another for those over NZ$10 million. This addition ensures that projects of all scales are recognised for their innovation and teamwork, reaffirming the Awards’ commitment to inclusivity and diversity within the construction sector.
The NZ Commercial Project Awards aim to:
Recognise the collaboration and innovation essential to realising a commercial project, regardless of size
Celebrate the craftsmanship, quality, and professionalism of teams that deliver superior outcomes
Promote and encourage best practices and excellent building processes within the commercial construction industry
Highlight the contractor’s role in fostering construction relationships and the value of collaborative efforts throughout the process
Participation in the Awards is open to all New Zealand-based project partners involved in commercial construction — whether or not they are members of the Registered Master Builders. Entry is highly competitive, with contenders vying for Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards within their categories, as well as opportunities to win the National Category, Special Awards, Value Awards, and the coveted Supreme Award.
This framework of recognition underscores the importance of teamwork, innovation, and quality in delivering projects that meet community needs and industry standards. It embodies the spirit of collaboration, craftsmanship, and excellence that we strive to uphold at He Waka Tapu and across the New Zealand construction sector.
