Casa farewell for Papa D.

27 / 06 / 2025

This morning we stood alongside one another to hold space for our founder, Daryl Gregory (Papa D), as he steps away from his role with the CASA Clinic.

Surrounded by friends, colleagues, and whānau, we reflected on the immense contribution Papa D has made to CASA.

Daryl has been a vital part of the CASA whānau, bringing his deep knowledge of working with indigenous men and their families into a clinical space that always prioritised safety, accountability, and aroha. He is widely respected for his ability to translate cultural ideas into practical action, making space for whānau to heal in ways that honour both their mana and tapu.

But perhaps his greatest impact has been in how he shows up: present, grounded, and unafraid to speak truth. Whether in a training room, a whānau home, or a staff hui, Papa D brings his full self, equipped with his contagious sense of humour and love for goody goody gum drops ice cream.

While this marks the end of his mahi with CASA, we’re grateful that Daryl continues to be part of the He Waka Tapu waka. His leadership, legacy, and wairua remain a guiding force for us all.

Thank you Papa D. For the people you’ve supported, the systems you’ve challenged, and the kaupapa you’ve helped carry forward.

Mā te wā e te rangatira!
