Zonta Wāhine Pamper Day in Hakatere
26 / 08 / 2025
On Saturday 23 August, the Zonta Women’s Group in Hakatere hosted a Wāhine Pamper Day for 13 of our whaiora at the Rosebank Community Rooms.
The day was all about aroha, kindness and giving our wāhine the chance to relax and feel special.
Professional hairstylists, make-up artists, nail technicians and massage therapists were on hand, offering their skills and time to make the day one to remember.
Things kicked off with a Body Balance session to warm up our bodies and minds, followed by a tasty morning tea. From there the pampering began – with each wahine rotating through the different treatments on offer.
A delicious lunch was shared together, and with plenty of leftovers to take home, whānau got to enjoy the spoils too.
The afternoon wrapped up with reflection time, goodie bags, and a chance to slow down before heading home. Julie and Gina from our Haketere office attended to support our whaiora and the Zonta team, and it was clear from the smiles, laughter, and connection in the room that this event was something special.
“It was beautiful to see our wāhine being celebrated and lifted up. The buzz in the room said it all.”
What is Zonta?
The Zonta Women’s Group in Hakatere is one of four clubs in Christchurch and part of a much wider network of over 1,250 clubs worldwide.
Zonta International was founded in 1919 and today has more than 31,000 members across 68 countries. Wherever you find them, Zonta clubs are made up of women from all walks of life who come together with one shared purpose: to advance the status of women through service and advocacy.
Here in Aotearoa, Zonta has been active for over 50 years, with 27 clubs stretching from Northland to Southland. Members give their time and energy to support women and girls in their own communities, while also contributing to international service projects. Over the years Zonta has built strong partnerships with United Nations agencies and continues to advocate on women’s issues at both national and global levels.
The Hakatere club is an active part of this movement. Locally, members bring the spirit of Zonta alive by putting on events like the Wāhine Pamper Day, fundraising for causes that directly benefit women, and creating spaces where women can feel supported, encouraged, and celebrated.
