Speakers reflected on the value of meaningful partnerships that honour tikanga, nurture trust, and hold a united purpose. The MOU sets a clear direction for how the two organisations will work together, supporting cancer prevention, early detection, and holistic wellbeing for whānau.

The partnership is guided by principles such as building respectful relationships, caring for whānau with dignity, working collectively toward shared outcomes, protecting mātauranga and hauora, and recognising the strengths each organisation brings. These principles reflect a commitment to equity, accessible support, and responsive services.

The MOU outlines several areas of collaboration, including joint health promotion, strengthened referral pathways, co‑delivery of wānanga and community events, and shared resources and expertise to support whānau. A specific focus on improving cancer outcomes for Māori sits at the heart of this partnership.

The agreement will take effect from 18 September 2025 through to 18 September 2026, with annual review to ensure the partnership continues to meet the needs of the communities both organisations serve. While the MOU is not legally binding, it represents genuine goodwill and a clear intention to work together in ways that uplift whānau.

The celebration affirmed that when organisations collaborate with purpose and respect, the impact reaches far beyond the event itself. It carries into everyday lives, shaping stronger, more connected, and more equitable health pathways for all.
